I specialize in hand-built wheels for all types of bicycles. Hand-built wheels are stronger, more accurately tensioned and far more durable than factory built wheels. I take the time to build a wheel specific to the riders needs, ensuring the wheel is built with the appropriate components for its intended use and in perfect balance by bringing each precisely measured spoke to proper tension, ensuring the roundness and maximum strength of the wheel.
We start by determining the intended use of wheel, and the riders personal preferences along with the riders weight and style of riding. This helps me to determine how the wheel will be built and which components can be used. Once the rider is happy with the components chosen, the build begins. If you already know what wheel you want or have the hub and rim, we can build it right away
Todays bikes come with a variety of different size and use-specific bearings to ensure the safe and proper function of moving parts. These bearings have a lifespan and require servicing and or replacement to prevent against poorly functioning bearings damaging the frame or components they are housed in. A seized bearing will cause the outer-race of the bearing to rotate inside the frame, carving out the bearing seat to such an extent the frame is no longer useable or it needs a custom-built bearing to fit.
Servicing or replacing bearings unfortunately requires a large collection of expensive and bike specific bearing presses and extractors to remove, service and install them. I cater for every bike and component and can provide these professional bearing services to you at an affordable rate.
I specialize in hand-built wheels and bearings, which requires a lot of focus and time, however, if your bike is in with me for either of these two services, I can provide general bike repairs and suspension services at a reasonable rate. I have a fully equipped workshop to deal with most brands.
If your bike is with me for a full bearing replacement, any of these services are provided at a reduced rate. This is because more often than not, the bike needs to be stripped to gain access to these components.
